Sustainable Agriculture Seminar
for July 27 - August 7, 2010

Rather than training developing nations in western agricultural practices (which are designed more to produce money than food), we train people in designing and developing low-maintenance "food forests" which tap into God's design in creation. This seminar also covers agricultural design and implementation, water management, plant propagation, soil care, pest management and resource stewardship.

Seminar Cost

The tuition-only cost for those who have their own housing is $150. Tuition, Board and Room is $668 for dorm style and $788 for hotel style (two to a room). Room, board and tuition for developing nations students is $368. This seminar is part of U of N's Community Technology Seminar series which includes Aquaculture, Natural Farming and Water Technology. An overseas field assignment will take place at the end of the last seminar. This 1 to 3-week outreach is perhaps the most exciting and important phase of the series. Students from both the Sustainable Agriculture and Water Technology seminars are eligible to participate.

The seminar series will be particularly useful for those intending to use the acquired skills in the field because all training has a practical focus. Power Point presentations, course documentation and video footage will be available for students to take away on CD for future training or reference.

Prerequisites and Credits

This seminar series is open to anyone who has a passion for using appropriate technologies to serve the world's poor and needy. One U of N credit will be earned for each seminar week (Maximum of 12 for non U of N students). For information on how to receive U of N credit, contact Andrew West This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
