Equippingindividuals and families “for such a time as this”

UofN Kona, Hawaii - July 15 – 30, 2010

Impartation 2010 has been designed toequip world changers—adults, youth and children—“For Such A Time As This.”  If you’ll recall the story of Esther, Godraised her up to save her nation in their darkest hour (Esther 4:12). God has designed the family as the corebuilding block for transformational change so we havedesigned Impartation to serve the whole family.  Alongside Impartation for the adults/parents,we are running three outstanding programs for the children/youth:

  • InFusion, a dynamic event geared tomake God a life and truth reality for teens (13-18). A 24/7 immersion program.
  • Impartation YouthTrackfor children 7-12. Discipleship + local outings. Runs 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
  • Impartation Preschool Program for ages 3-6. Runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. (Parents of children youngerthan three will need to provide for their care by bringing a nanny or arrangingother childcare provision.)

Loren and Darlene Cunningham, foundersof Youth With A Mission, David Hamilton, U of N Vice-President for StrategicInnovation, and others will lead us through a time of exploring the characterof God and His interplay of justice and mercy in the transformation of nations.  We will look at the gospel in a holistic way, which includes not only the redemption of individuals, but the transformationof various spheres of society, based on the principles of God’s Word. Together we will focus on Biblical foundations to build people, communities and nations.

Hands-on training to humanitarian workers

These seminars, developed by the Science and Technology Department staff at the U of N, aim to get international field workers quickly engaged in water and agriculture projects to help serve those in need.

Water seminarWater Technology Seminar
July 12-23, 2010

Responding to the global water crisis requires understanding, wisdom, and committed action by individuals and groups worldwide. This seminar is designed to examine the characteristics of water supplies available to communities, demonstrate how to provide, pump, and purify water economically. Rus Alit, formerly of World Vision, is a world renowned expert in water technologies for non-electrical pumping systems, water holding systems and sanitation.

This Seminar will be particularly useful to those intending to teach the subject matter in the future, as power point presentations, course documentation and video footage will be available for students to take away on CD. It will however also be suitable for those intending to use the acquired skills in the field.

Sustainable Agriculture Seminar
July 26 - August 6, 2010

Rather than training developing nations in western agricultural practices (which are designed more to produce money than food), we train people in designing and developing low-maintenance "food forests" which tap into God's design in creation. This seminar also covers agricultural design and implementation, water management, plant propagation, soil care, pest management and resource stewardship.

Optional Field Assignment

An overseas field assignment will take place at the end of the last seminar. This 1 to 3-week outreach is perhaps the most exciting and important phase of the series. Students from both the Sustainable Agriculture and Water Technology seminars are eligible to participate.  We will assess the needs of the community, and work with them to build appropriate solutions to their food/ water/ shelter problems. Components of the students projects throughout the seminar series will be selected and built into the field design. Precise dates, cost and location are yet to be determined.

 New Direction

"When I graduated from high school I did the Community Transformations DTS. I did not know at the time what  career I wanted to pursue. I learned in my DTS that the fashion industry is a mission field. I did my outreach in New York City and ... received confirmation from God that he wants me to work in this industry.” She is staying in Kona for the Introduction to Biblical Counseling School.
