Summer of Love 2010 at YWAM Kona's University of the Nation

In 1960 a world changing movement began... while a generation was starting to spiral out of control into the pitfalls of drugs and immorality, God gave Loren Cunningham, a radical vision of waves of young people covering the globe with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

YWAM was born and the vision spread... early YWAMers described it as a "revolution of love".

Now - 50 years later, we want to draw close to our God and to our YWAM family at YWAM's largest training center in Kona, Hawaii  in what we are calling "2010 Summer of Love".

So even if many of us are too young to remember the 60's - we remember God's goodness to our YWAM tribe and we encourage you to join this new wave in our revolution of love!

Here is a quick look at some of the programs available this summer:

Summer Discipleship Training School

Are you ready to be stirred up, spurred on, and ruined for the ordinary? Are you are ready to embark on a journey in search of God, in search of your destiny? Are you ready to take on the greatest commission ever given? Are you ready to go to the nations?   The world awaits - take the step, make your mark and prepare to never be the same again. Come join the Summer DTS and we will journey together.

Fire & Fragrance - School of Revival & Reformation

The Vision: Revival and reformation in the nations of the earth through intentional communities centered around valuing the presence of God through worship, intercession, and passion for Jesus! Imagine the transforming power of the gospel being lived out through communities living a life of deep devotion on an individual and corporate level flowing into anointed outreach in the hearts of individuals and spheres of society!

School of Strategic Communication

This school is designed to raise up media warriors: Spirit-led activists whose words, like Peter’s, cut to the heart and provoke the question, “What shall we do then?" (Acts 2:37). Students will discover what their audience truly believes, and will develop the skills to reach them with relevant, transformational communication. Whether you want to promote a new business or turn the tide on AIDS infections, this school will teach you how.

Principles of Redeeming Cultures School

Polynesian Dance and cultural presentation - Principles of Redeeming Cultures - YWAM Kona, University of the Nations in HawaiiThe fingerprints of God reside in every culture of the world. They are signposts left there by the Father that point us to Him in a way that is unique and relevant to the people there. The PRCS highlights the significance of protocol and showcases the God given honour and dignity attached to these protocols by modelling their use throughout the school. Students will also be equipped with knowledge to identify their own cultural protocols and empowered to use them, not only throughout PRCS but beyond.

English as a Second Language

Would you like to speak English with greater understanding and confidence? The University of the Nations' English as a Second Language (ESL) School offers a practical curriculum for English used in everyday life. Your English will improve as you learn in fun and creative ways. You also can grow in your knowledge of Jesus, studying the Bible as part of the program.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

The demand for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is exploding in many nations as English has become the primary language of international commerce and electronic communications. The University of the Nations seeks to help satisfy this global demand for qualified English teachers through its TESOL program, an intensive six-week course which is offered from Aug. 12th to Sept 22nd.

School of Biblical Studies II

The School of Biblical Studies (SBS) is a nine-month course in which students study all 66 books of the Bible. An inductive approach is taught, in which students observe what the text says and then let it shape their beliefs. In this second phase, students begin with the gospel and epistles of John and then proceed to the Old Testament historical narratives (Genesis through Samuel) and end with the poetic books (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon).

School of Photography II

The goal of the School of Photography II (SOP II) is to inspire and train Christians to use photography as a communications tool for the Kingdom of God. We seek students who have a passionate, burning desire to go beyond a self-centered, "personal enrichment" or hobby level, who want to use their camera to serve others.
